The Judges

The judges for the year’s competition were selected for their experience with interactive design and pedagogy and they included:

• Jeffrey Zeldman, Happy Cog
• Patrick McNeil, Author, The Mobile Web Designer’s Idea Book
• Charles Nix, Parsons New School for Design
• Ashley Einspahr, 2013 Above the Fold Best in Show Winner
• Brian Miller, Author, Above the Fold

The Best in Show

Best in Show Winner

The quality of the work entered this year made choosing a single piece for best in show very difficult. Many pieces received 3 votes (from the 5 judges), but it was Sam Small’s Collectivity Collaborative Web App that took home the prize. The piece was created at Kansas City Art Institute under the guidance of Professor Tyler Galloway.

For having her piece selected as Best in Show, Sam will receive the following prizes from our generous sponsors:
A one-year subscription to Creative Cloud
A free ticket for the HOW Interactive Conference
Free registration in a HOW Design University online class
The Above the Fold Awards trophy
The opportunity to be a judge in next year’s competition.

It’s our hope that these prizes will help Sam on his path to being a successful Web designer. Congratulations Sam!

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone who entered their work. Look for the next call for entries in late January, 2015.
